The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has extended warm birthday wishes to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on the occasion of her 65th birthday, praising her as a compassionate leader and a tireless advocate for women, children, and the underprivileged.
Kalu’s congratulatory message was shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday and highlighted the First Lady’s long-standing record of public service, from her tenure as First Lady of Lagos State to her three terms as a senator of the Federal Republic.
“I extend my warm felicitations to our amiable First Lady, Her Excellency, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, on her 65th birthday,” Kalu wrote. “Senator Oluremi Tinubu is a compassionate leader whose life reflects a strong dedication to service. Having served as the First Lady of Lagos State with elegance and excellence, she has remained a beacon of hope and an inspiration to women in leadership.”
Kalu commended Mrs Tinubu’s unwavering advocacy, particularly in championing the rights of the girl child and supporting legislative efforts aimed at gender inclusivity. He referenced her backing of the Reserved Seats Bill, which seeks to create more space for women in governance.
“Her tireless advocacy for the girl child, empowering women, and the less privileged continues to inspire many. I applaud her immense support and commitment to the Reserved Seats Bill. The Parliament is indeed proud of her remarkable legacy in the Senate, where she served with courage and dignity,” he stated.
Kalu also noted the vital support role the First Lady continues to play alongside her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he navigates the challenges of national leadership.
“She has been a strong pillar of strength and support system to her husband, our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, as he steers the affairs of the nation,” he added.
Concluding his message, the Deputy Speaker prayed for the First Lady’s continued strength, wisdom, and success in her endeavours, describing her as a model of grace and selfless service.
Earlier on Sunday, President Tinubu paid his own heartfelt tribute, describing his wife as his confidant and “steady anchor” through years of political and personal trials. The First Lady, who turned 65, has continued to focus her efforts on social intervention, youth development, and women’s empowerment through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
