President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly hinted at his support for the re-election bid of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, reaffirming a two-decade-long friendship and pledging continued collaboration between the federal and Anambra state governments.
Governor Soludo visited the president at the Aso Villa on Tuesday, where he revealed that their discussions focused on pressing national issues including the economy and security, though he refrained from disclosing full details to the press.
In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, President Tinubu confirmed the visit and echoed Soludo’s remarks, praising the governor’s reform-minded leadership and progressivism. He also affirmed his administration’s readiness to continue partnering with states committed to development.
“It was a pleasure to welcome my friend of over two decades and the Governor of Anambra State, Governor Charles Soludo, to the Aso Villa yesterday,” the president wrote.

He continued: “We discussed the bold reforms underway, the need to stay the course, and the importance of tackling insecurity through both decisive action and inclusive opportunities for our teeming youth.”
While not explicitly endorsing Soludo’s second-term ambitions, Tinubu’s emphasis on partnership and shared values with the Anambra governor has been widely interpreted as a tacit nod of approval.
“We will continue to take a bet on our dear country, Nigeria, to ensure sustainable and shared prosperity for the future. Our administration will continue to partner with every state that is serious about human, social, and economic development,” Tinubu added.
The two leaders’ alliance may become a significant political force as preparations begin for the next Anambra gubernatorial election.
