Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has approved an upward review of the monthly stipend paid to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state, raising it from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.
The announcement came yesterday as the governor declared open the 2025 Batch B Stream I orientation programme at the NYSC camp in Damare.
Sharing the news via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Fintiri said: “I had the honour of opening the 2025 Batch B Stream I NYSC orientation camp in Damare today. I also revealed that we’re increasing the corps members’ allowance to ₦30,000 per month.

“In addition, we’re moving forward with plans to establish a brand-new orientation camp, and professionals in key sectors have already been commissioned to handle the project.”
This development follows similar action taken recently in Akwa Ibom State, where Governor Umo Eno increased the state’s NYSC stipend to ₦20,000.
He noted that the adjustment was aimed at complementing the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 allowance for corps members, thereby easing their financial burdens.
“Each year, more than 10,000 corps members are deployed to Akwa Ibom. We must continue to offer them encouragement and support,” Eno stated.
The NYSC, established in 1973, is a one-year mandatory service scheme for Nigerian graduates under the age of 30.
It was designed to promote national unity and integration by deploying participants to states outside their region of origin, where they contribute to local development through various community service roles.
