Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has commended the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for taking a bold step towards youth inclusion by appointing several young Nigerians to key positions within its National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Atiku praised the party for not just speaking about youth involvement but actively demonstrating it through meaningful appointments.
The ADC recently appointed Bilyaminu Duhu as Assistant National Youth Leader (North East), Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hassana Dada as Assistant National Youth Leader (North Central), David Itokpa as Deputy National Welfare Secretary, and Hauwa Yusuf as Deputy National Secretary.
Congratulating the appointees, Atiku wrote:
“Congratulations to the vibrant young members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—Bilyaminu Duhu, Jackie Wayas (@JWEZEE), Hassana Dada, David Itokpa (@iamhistory_), Hauwa Yusuf (@itz_hawee) and others, on their well-deserved appointments to the party’s National Working Committee.
“The @ADCNig is no longer just speaking about youth inclusion; it is now boldly demonstrating it in action.”
He further emphasised the importance of including young people in the nation’s decision-making process:
“Indeed, the future of our youth must not be shaped in their absence, and I commend the ADC for setting a powerful example by giving them a seat at the table where decisions are made.
This is what true leadership looks like—not just talking the talk, but walking it with purpose.”
The move by the ADC has been widely praised as a significant step towards broader youth representation in Nigeria’s political landscape, amid growing calls for generational inclusion in governance and party leadership.
