The Concerned Christian Youth Forum has strongly condemned the actions of popular TikToker Ogunsanwo Olumide John, known as Seaking.
The social media personality was recently arrested for allegedly making disrespectful remarks about the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye.
Police officers in Lagos apprehended Seaking and later transferred him to the Federal Investigation Department (FID) in Abuja.
His arrest followed the directives of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Dasuki Galandanchi. Authorities charged him with cyberbullying under Nigeria’s cybercrime laws.
Viral video sparks outrage
The controversy erupted after Seaking posted a viral video on TikTok in which he called Pastor Adeboye “very stupid and foolish” for imposing a 100-day fast on his congregation. The video sparked outrage, particularly among religious groups, leading to a petition for his arrest.
Christian forum demands accountability
The Concerned Christian Youth Forum, led by its convener Adama Paul James, took a firm stand against the TikToker’s actions.
James condemned the video, stressing the need to address the rising trend of online harassment and disrespect toward religious figures.
“This blatant act of cyber harassment is both unacceptable and harmful,” James stated. “It directly challenges the values that hold our society together. Respect for elders is a fundamental part of our culture, and such attacks must not be tolerated.”
Growing concern over online disrespect
James expressed deep concern over a growing pattern where young content creators target religious leaders for entertainment.
“This trend of moral decay is alarming. It threatens our values and promotes disrespect. Christian leaders and elders deserve honour. They represent wisdom, experience, and the cultural heritage of our people,” he added.

Legal consequences under cybercrime law
James confirmed that the TikToker had been taken into custody and would face legal action. He described the social media post as an “unprovoked and deeply disrespectful attack” on a revered religious leader.
“This is a serious offence under Nigerian law,” James explained. “Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2024, as amended, clearly criminalizes cyber harassment. Violators face imprisonment if convicted.”
Christian youth forum vows action
The forum warned that it would not tolerate future attacks on Christian leaders. James assured the public that decisive action would be taken against anyone who engaged in similar behaviour.
“We will continue to stand firm against the disrespect and defamation of Christian figures,” he said. “Those who use social media irresponsibly must be held accountable.”
Public reaction and debate
The case has sparked widespread debate. While many support the arrest, others question whether legal action is the best approach to handling online criticism. Social media remains divided, with some defending freedom of expression while others stress the importance of maintaining respect for religious leaders.
Looking ahead
As the case moves forward, legal experts will weigh in on the implications of cybercrime laws in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Concerned Christian Youth Forum remains committed to protecting the dignity of religious figures and promoting a culture of respect in the digital space.
