A youth leader has called on political stakeholders in the South-East to recognise the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, as the only leader of the All Progressives Congress in the zone.
Amb. Innocent Nduanya, Deputy President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, made the call in a statement on Facebook on Thursday, where he urged governors, ministers, senators, and other actors to respect the party’s leadership structure in the region.
He said, “Let it be clear: there is no other leader in the zone.”
Nduanya added that aspirants seeking future positions, including the Senate Presidency and the Vice Presidency, “must acknowledge him now.”
He stressed that unity, hierarchy and discipline are key to strengthening the party’s position in the South-East and improving its influence in national politics.

According to him, political actors must work together to ensure progress and a stronger voice for the zone within the APC.
The statement did not indicate any official response from the party’s national leadership or other stakeholders in the region.
However, it highlights the ongoing efforts by some party members to define leadership and promote internal unity ahead of future political contests.
Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State, has been active in party mobilisation efforts across the South-East in recent months.
