Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has publicly criticised fellow singer Burna Boy following the alleged assault on DJ Tunez at a Lagos nightclub.
The controversy erupted after DJ Tunez, who is widely known as Wizkid’s official disc jockey, was reportedly attacked by Burna Boy and members of his entourage during an event in Lagos on Monday night.

Videos from the incident quickly spread across social media, showing DJ Tunez on the floor during the altercation, with several people appearing to surround him.
The incident reportedly took place at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats gathering in Lagos.
Although the exact cause of the confrontation remains unclear, multiple reports claim the disagreement may have started after DJ Tunez allegedly played Wizkid songs but failed to play Burna Boy’s music during the event.
DJ Tunez later broke his silence on social media, confirming that he was involved in an altercation with Burna Boy.
According to him, he was attacked unexpectedly and outnumbered.
In a series of posts shared on X, DJ Tunez claimed Burna Boy hit him from behind before members of his team joined in.
He described the singer’s actions as cowardly and said he fought back despite being overwhelmed.
The incident has since sparked outrage among fans and industry figures.
One of the strongest reactions came from Wizkid, who appeared furious over the treatment of his long-time associate.
Taking to his X account on Tuesday, the singer openly insulted Burna Boy and accused him of relying on a group of people to fight one person.
“Pussy nigga jump a DJ with 10 man,” Wizkid wrote.
The singer also mocked Burna Boy by referring to a video that surfaced online shortly after the incident.
In the video, Burna Boy was seen dancing in a towel while appearing to ridicule DJ Tunez after the fight.
The video generated fresh criticism, with many social media users accusing Burna Boy of making light of a violent incident.
Wizkid, reacting to the clip, described Burna Boy as foolish and referenced his past association with American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
“Carry Diddy towel dey dance. I never see a fool like this, Diddy babe, for my life,” Wizkid added.
The remark appeared to allude to rumours that have circulated online in recent months linking Burna Boy to Diddy.
Burna Boy had previously been accused on social media of having an inappropriate relationship with the American rapper and producer.
However, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer strongly denied the allegations.
According to Burna Boy, his relationship with Diddy was strictly professional and based on their work in the music industry.
The controversy surrounding Diddy has remained intense since the American music executive was arrested in 2024 over multiple sexual assault allegations.
He was later convicted and sentenced to prison, a development that further fueled speculation and online jokes involving celebrities who had previously been linked to him.
Wizkid’s comments have further heightened tensions between him and Burna Boy, two of Nigeria’s biggest music stars.
Although both singers have collaborated in the past and publicly praised each other on several occasions, their fan bases have often been involved in heated online rivalry.
The latest incident appears to have deepened that divide.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian DJ Association, NDJ, has also reacted strongly to the alleged attack on DJ Tunez.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the association announced that Burna Boy’s songs would no longer be played by its members until further notice.
According to the NDJ, the ban will remain in place while an investigation into the incident is carried out.
“Burna Boy Music is temporarily out of any of our DJs playlist till further notice,” the association said.
“Our team will carry out a proper investigation on the incident that happened to one of our own, DJ Tunez.”
The association also urged DJs across Nigeria to remain professional and respectful in their dealings with musicians and event organisers.
The move is seen as a major development because Burna Boy is one of the most played artistes in the country.
Many industry observers believe the temporary ban could have a significant effect if it is widely enforced.
Reactions online have remained divided.
While some people supported Wizkid for standing up for DJ Tunez, others criticised his language and said the matter should be resolved privately.
Some fans also questioned why disagreements in the music industry continue to escalate into violence.
Others called on Burna Boy to publicly address the allegations and explain his side of the story.
As of the time of this report, Burna Boy has not released an official statement regarding Wizkid’s comments or the alleged attack on DJ Tunez.
For now, the controversy continues to dominate conversations across social media, with many Nigerians watching closely to see whether the feud between both camps will escalate further or eventually be resolved.
