The group announced its position during a press conference in Abuja, where it presented what it termed an “evidence-based assessment” of both leaders’ performance since assuming office.
Speaking at the event, National Coordinator of the forum, Henry Awolabi, praised President Tinubu’s economic policies, highlighting key reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate unification, and tax restructuring. According to him, these measures have begun to stabilise Nigeria’s macroeconomic environment.

“When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office in 2023, Nigeria stood at the edge of a fiscal precipice. With clarity of purpose and uncommon political will, this administration embarked on what can only be described as a bold and historic reform agenda,” Awolabi said.
He noted that the removal of fuel subsidies marked a turning point towards fiscal discipline, while subsequent monetary and fiscal policies have helped restore investor confidence and improve Nigeria’s global economic standing.
The forum further claimed that the country recorded consistent GDP growth exceeding four per cent by the end of 2025, alongside improved exchange rate stability and a gradual decline in inflation. It also pointed to rising foreign reserves, expanding trade surpluses, and increased non-oil revenue as indicators of economic recovery.

While acknowledging that such sweeping reforms often come with short-term challenges, the group stressed that long-term transformation requires difficult decisions. “Nations are not transformed by comfort; they are transformed by courage,” Awolabi stated.
Turning to Rivers State, the forum commended Governor Fubara for restoring stability amid political tensions and prioritising development initiatives. His administration was credited with advancing infrastructure projects, improving healthcare systems, and promoting agriculture to diversify the state’s economy beyond oil.
Awolabi added that the governor had demonstrated restraint during periods of political strain while maintaining focus on governance and service delivery.
The forum, however, warned against policy inconsistency, describing Nigeria as being in the midst of a critical structural reset. It argued that continuity in leadership would be essential to sustaining current gains.
“We unequivocally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office,” the forum declared, citing his willingness to take difficult decisions and implement reforms. It also extended the same endorsement to Governor Fubara, praising his resilience, developmental focus, and leadership capacity.
