A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hassan Alwan, has alleged that several governors and ministers within the ruling party do not genuinely support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Alwan made the claim during an appearance on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television, where he assessed the current political climate within the party.
According to him, while many officials publicly declare loyalty to the President, their actions suggest otherwise. “Despite public declarations of support, the actions of some governors and cabinet members indicate a lack of true commitment to Tinubu’s administration and policies,” he said.
He further argued that personal political ambitions ahead of future elections are taking precedence over collective party goals, particularly the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
Alwan warned that such perceived internal disloyalty could undermine the cohesion of the ruling party and weaken its electoral prospects if not urgently addressed.
The APC chieftain stressed the importance of unity within the party, noting that internal divisions could pose significant challenges as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged party leaders and stakeholders to prioritise national interest and work collaboratively to support the President’s policies and governance objectives.
Observers say the remarks reflect growing concerns about internal dynamics within the APC, as shifting alliances and political calculations begin to shape the landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
