The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the timetable for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates across its member countries.

According to the final international timetable published on the council’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the examination will commence on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, and conclude on Friday, 19 June 2026.
WAEC disclosed that the examination will begin with practical planning sessions for Foods and Nutrition 3 and Home Management 3, marking the start of a rigorous assessment period for thousands of secondary school students.

The WASSCE remains one of the most important academic milestones for students in West Africa, serving as a key requirement for admission into universities and other tertiary institutions. The examination will cover a broad range of subjects, including core disciplines such as English Language and Mathematics, alongside various electives spanning the sciences, arts, humanities, and vocational or technical fields.
WAEC confirmed that the examination will be conducted simultaneously across its member nations, including Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia.
