Multiple people were attacked with a meat cleaver in Brooklyn on Sunday morning, including several children, before the deranged attacker was shot by police, sources said.
The violence erupted around 10 a.m. on 84th Street, when the man attacked several people, including a woman and three girls between the ages of 8 and 16, before being stopped by the NYPD, the sources told The Post.
“I was watching through the window and the girl covered in blood came out,” said a neighbor who asked to be identified only as Maria. “And then there was another girl. The two girls were just covered in blood.

“I was shaking. I’m still shaking now,” she said. “I don’t usually see them. They just moved here. I lived here seven years and there are a lot of new people moving here.”
Disturbing images from the scene obtained by The Post show at least one of the girls outside the building covered in blood from head to toe — while the suspect is seen being wheeled out on a stretcher.
Cops responding to a 911 call opened fire on the suspect after he ignored their orders to drop the knife, according to the sources.
The suspect lunged at the cops with the weapon and was shot multiple times, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
The man attacked at least a half a dozen people, including several kids between the ages of 8 and 16, before being stopped by the NYPD.

“They brought out a guy on a stretcher, all bloody without a shirt,” neighbor Humbert Huerta said. “I don’t know who it was, but they shot him twice. They took him out and put him in the ambulance. Probably 40 years old.”
All of the wounded were rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where at least one youngster is now in critical condition, the sources said.

The sources said the mother of at least some of the children was not believed to be home at the time of the incident.
State Assemblyman Lester Chang, who represents the Brooklyn neighborhood, said one of the victims may be a babysitter.
Police were expected to hold a press conference at the scene on Sunday afternoon.
