UEFA has launched an investigation into alleged indecent conduct by four Real Madrid players—Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, and Dani Ceballos—following their Champions League last-16 victory over Atletico Madrid.
TV footage showed Rudiger making a throat-slitting gesture, while Mbappe appeared to make a crotch-grabbing motion towards Atletico fans. The Spanish club reported the incidents to UEFA, which confirmed an ethics and disciplinary inspector is handling the case.
The players could face suspensions, though it is unclear if a verdict will come before Real Madrid’s quarter-final first leg against Arsenal on April 8. A ban would be a major boost for the Gunners, who famously eliminated Madrid in 2006 with a 1-0 aggregate win, thanks to Thierry Henry’s iconic goal at the Bernabeu.
UEFA has promised further updates on the case as the investigation progresses.
