An agreement is set for PSG manager Luis Enrique to renew his contract with the club. Enrique, who joined the club in 2023, will sign an extension to keep him at the French side until 2027, according to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The former Barcelona manager’s former deal with the French champions was due to expire in 2025, prompting the club executives to negotiate a new deal with the coach who led the team to Trophee des Champions, Coupe de France and Ligue 1 triumphs in his first season in charge.
The offer for the renewal was made as early as September, reports say, indicating the club’s faith in his leadership. The 54-year-old, in his second season at the helm of the team, had full involvement in the club’s transfer strategy. He has been overseeing PSG’s transition from their Mbappe era after the French attacker joined Spanish champions Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer. Enrique’s extension is indicative of a new path to stability within the club following a period where it changed coaches in quick succession. Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino and Christophe Galtier all managed PSG between 2016 and 2023 when Enrique took over. In 62 games since he assumed the role as PSG manager, the Spaniard has secured 40 wins and 14 draws while losing eight games.
Enrique has managed Roma, Celta Vigo, Barcelona and the Spain national team before his PSG job. He led Barcelona to their famous 2014-15 treble-winning season, fielding the iconic attacking trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar.
