Liverpool first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be out with a hamstring injury until late November, the club has confirmed. The Brazilian got injured in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, leaving the game on a stretcher in the 79th minute and replaced by Vitezslav Jaros. The Reds will be counting on second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to fill in for Alisson at the end of the international break.
Liverpool are off to a good start this season after the managerial change that occurred over the summer with Arne Slot taking over from Jurgen Klopp. Alisson, who has continued as Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper in the Slot era, will be an important absence for Liverpool in their coming games. They face Chelsea at home in the Premier League after the international break. They will play against RB Leipzig in the Champions League next, before visiting the Emirates to face Arsenal. A League Cup fixture at Brighton is next before hosting them at Anfield in the Premier League and German champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

Alisson will likely return to play after the November international break during Liverpool’s away fixture against Southampton on November 24. This will be followed by a tough schedule featuring games with Real Madrid and Premier League champions Manchester City. Slot, admitting Alisson’s importance for the Reds after their victory on Saturday said, “Alisson is our clear No. 1, the best goalkeeper in the world so it’s a blow when he gets injured for himself and the team. We have a second option that’s already good. Caoimhín has already shown that, which is why Caoimhín is the No. 2 and the last time Alisson was injured, I played Caoimhín. He did really well, it’s pleasing to see that our third goalkeeper can have an impact on results as Caoimhín was ill yesterday and today.”
