Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has inaugurated two new commissioners, Lawal Olohungbebe and Maryam Nnafatima Imam, urging them to be team players and align with his administration’s developmental agenda.  

Their swearing-in,, which took place on Monday, came with a reshuffling of cabinet positions. 

Olohungbebe has been assigned to the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, while Nnafatima will now oversee the Ministry of Social Development.  

In other changes, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu has been moved to the Ministry of Tertiary Education, while Mary Arinde now heads the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi has been appointed as the Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Transportation.  

Additionally, Olohuntoyosi Thomas Adebayo, formerly the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, will now lead the Ministry of Livestock Development.

His former role has been taken over by Afeez Abolore. Meanwhile, Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh, previously in charge of the Ministry of Social Development, will now oversee the Ministry of Solid Minerals.  

Speaking after the inauguration, Governor AbdulRazaq described the appointments as a “deserving elevation” for the new commissioners, who had previously served as Senior Special Assistants.  

“This marks not just a new chapter for the commissioners but a renewed commitment to serving the people of Kwara State with dedication, integrity, and vision,” the governor said.  

He emphasised the importance of teamwork in governance and urged the new appointees to embrace creativity and prudent decision-making in their respective ministries.  

“Our government has made significant progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social protection. As you assume your new roles, I urge you to stay connected with the people, think outside the box, and apply prudence in decision-making,” he added.

Governor AbdulRazaq congratulated the new commissioners and wished them success in their service to the state.
