Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has presented a 2025 budget proposal of N1.05 trillion to the State House of Assembly, emphasising hope, prosperity, and sustainable development.
The appropriation bill tagged the ‘Budget of Hope and Prosperity’, comprises N600.98 billion for capital expenditure and N453.56 billion for recurrent expenditure.
Announcing the development on his X page, Governor Abiodun highlighted the budget’s focus on infrastructure, health, education, and fiscal responsibility.
He said key allocations include N120.14 billion for personnel costs, N76.07 billion for public debt charges, and N219.86 billion for overhead expenses.
The 2025 budget outlines several major projects, including the renovation and equipping of hospitals and 80 primary health centres and, the construction and rehabilitation of roads across Ogun State.

Others are the extension of metro rail lines of Redline (Agbado-Kajola), blueline (Okokomaiko-Agbara/Lusada), and purpleline, rehabilitation of 150 kilometres of feeder roads, construction of Ogun Lodge in Abuja, OGIRS Revenue House, and a modern Court of Appeal.
The governor said infrastructure received the largest share, N284.46 billion (27%), followed by health with N134.54 billion (13%), and education with N117.83 billion (11%).
Additionally, he said agriculture and industry were allocated N65.39 billion (6%), while housing and community development received N66.38 billion (6%).

Furthermore, the proposed revenue breakdown includes: internally generated revenue (IGR) of N314.82 billion (N120.97 billion from the State IRS and N193.85 billion from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies).
Federal Allocations and VAT are N228.06 billion, and capital receipts, loans, and grants: are N472.66 billion.
Governor Abiodun expressed pride in the state’s fiscal performance, noting a 79% achievement of the 2024 revenue target.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and the completion of ongoing projects under the ISEYA (Infrastructure, Social Welfare and Wellbeing, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Agriculture) pillars.
He said the proposed budget aligns with the medium-term national development plan (2021-2025), aiming to drive sustainable development and improve the quality of life for all the state residents.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, promised the governor that the House would do all it could to ensure a successful passage.
Elemide maintained that the House is ready to cooperate and support both the executive and the judiciary arms of government.
