Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed profound shock and sadness over the passing of Richard Adamu Tallen, the son of former Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima described the loss as both tragic and unexpected.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of Richard’s soul and strength for the bereaved family during this difficult time.
The Vice President conveyed his condolences on Monday during a visit to the Tallen family’s residence in Abuja. Accompanying him was Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President).
Speaking to the family, VP Shettima reflected on the bright future the late Richard held and his contributions to Nigeria’s development, saying, “I received the news of the Minister’s son’s passing with deep shock. He had a promising future and was actively contributing to Nigeria’s progress.”

He further empathized with the family, acknowledging the immense pain of losing a child, and offering heartfelt prayers for comfort and healing.
He stated: “I can only imagine the pain the family is going through right now. On behalf of my principal (President Bola Ahmed Tinubu), I am with you. May God grant you the heart to contain the pain and grant you the fortitude to bear this loss.
“May you be comforted and may his young family find solace, knowing quite well that God is the giver and taker of life, as we are all living at His will. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
The late Richard Tallen who passed away in Abuja over the weekend is survived by his wife and three children.
