Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh, believes Morocco had enough quality to beat Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and would likely have secured a comfortable victory if they had forwards like Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman leading the attack.
Reacting to Morocco‘s 1-1 draw with Brazil in their Group C clash on Saturday, Oliseh praised the North Africans for their organization, discipline and attacking intent throughout the match.
Taking to his X account on Sunday, the former Super Eagles midfielder said Morocco impressed him on both ends of the pitch and suggested the Atlas Lions lacked only a clinical finisher to turn their dominance into a famous win.
“Impressive performance by this Moroccan side, defensively and offensively well structured. Had this team had Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman-like players versus Brazil, they could have won by 3 goals to 1 at worst,” Oliseh wrote.
The 50-year-old also felt Brazil were fortunate to escape with a point, pointing to the influence of star attackers Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha.
According to Oliseh, the Brazilian side’s performance was not as convincing as the result suggested.
“Brazil looking deceptive and thank God they had Vinicius Jr and Raphinha. I loved the belief and evolution from the Moroccans,” he added.
Morocco‘s spirited display earned them a valuable point against the five-time world champions and further underlined their growing reputation on the global stage.
Despite being held to a draw, the Atlas Lions matched Brazil for long periods, while Vinícius Júnior was named Superior Player of the Match after another influential performance for the South Americans.
