The Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested 33 members of a gang linked to the violent attack on Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Eruku in November last year.
Anthony Placid, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the suspects are among 50 individuals connected to terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
He said the arrests were made as part of a “strategic offensive against syndicates that have long threatened the peace of the nation” since January.
According to him, several key suspects are already set to face prosecution, while efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices and recover more illegal weapons.
The attack occurred on November 18, 2025, when gunmen stormed the church, killing three worshippers and abducting 38 others.
Footage from a live-streamed service showed congregants gathered in worship before gunshots rang out around the premises, causing panic.
Days after the incident, President Bola Tinubu announced that all those abducted during the attack had been successfully rescued.
In a statement released on Sunday via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Tinubu attributed the success to the intensified efforts of security forces over the last few days.
He reiterated his commitment to national security, explaining that this priority was the sole reason he cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa.
“My fellow Nigerians, you will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable me to coordinate the security efforts at home,” Tinubu stated.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued. I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State, have been recovered.”
