‘You’re party of vampires’ – PDP tells APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has labelled the All Progressives Congress (APC) as ‘political vampires’ who thrive by imposing severe hardship on Nigerians.

According to PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the APC harbours power-seekers, treasury looters, and manipulators whose only agenda is to “grab, snatch, and run” with the nation’s resources, disregarding the welfare of millions of citizens.

The PDP denounced the APC’s recent criticism of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who has spoken up on behalf of Nigerians suffering under the APC-led administration. The PDP described this attack as reckless, insensitive, and an arrogant display of failure.

The party stated that the APC’s reaction to Governor Makinde’s remarks signals its growing insecurity, as Nigerians have grown aware of its misleading policies, suppression tactics, and ineffective governance.

Furthermore, the PDP reaffirmed Governor Makinde’s status as a capable and credible leader.

They praised his achievements in addressing the needs of Oyo State through numerous development projects, as well as his collaboration with other PDP governors to foster democracy and oppose the APC’s attempts to create a one-party state in Nigeria.

“It is indeed an assault on the sensibility of Nigerians that while worsening insecurity, biting economic hardship, widespread hunger and starvation, comatose infrastructure, crippled productive sector, weakened currency, closure of millions of businesses with over 36% unemployment rate, hopelessness and general despondency all occasioned by the irresponsible anti-people policies of the APC administration, the APC is living in alternate reality, arrogantly claiming that Nigeria is “on the cusp of prosperity.

“Our Party finds it preposterous that the APC thinks that it can continue to hoodwink citizens with lies and harvest of false performance claims when it has failed on all fronts, reversed all the gains made in the 16 years of the PDP in governance and turned our once economically thriving nation into the poverty capital of the world, where over 100 million Nigerians are no longer able to afford their daily meals and other necessities of life,” the party said.

The party further highlighted that under the APC’s mismanagement of the economy, the Naira has plummeted from an exchange rate of N168 to the Dollar under the PDP to nearly N2,000 per Dollar today.

They noted that the price of petrol, once N87 per litre, has surged to over N1,500 in many areas nationwide. Similarly, the cost of essential goods has skyrocketed: a bag of rice, previously N8,000, now exceeds N100,000; a measure of beans, once N250, now sells for N3,800; and a measure of garri has spiked from N100 to N1,500.

The PDP also pointed out that while Nigerians endure severe hardships, corrupt APC leaders are diverting public funds to satisfy their extravagant lifestyles and lavish spending.

“It is therefore not surprising that as the day progresses toward 2027, the APC is resorting to manipulation of data, politicization of issues and personal attacks on outspoken Nigerians as being witnessed in its outburst against Governor Makinde.

“Such attacks by the APC cannot fly as Governor Makinde and indeed other PDP governors are massively delivering on their mandates as being witnessed in the astounding infrastructural, human capital and citizen empowerment projects going on in PDP States to the admiration of Nigerians. Indeed PDP States continue to be Oasis of Development compared to APC-controlled States.

“The APC should end its shenanigans, accept failure and come to terms with the fact that its lifespan in the face of abysmal failure in governance cannot last beyond February 2027 when the PDP and Nigerians will send it to political oblivion where the APC contraption truly belongs.”
