Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s steadfast support for the growing bilateral relationship between Belgium and Nigeria.

He highlighted Lagos’ pivotal role in advancing international partnerships.

The governor made the commitment during a reception hosted by the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Pieter Leenknegt, in collaboration with the CBL-ACP Chamber of Commerce.

The event was held at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of Lagos State, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, emphasised Lagos’s strategic importance as Nigeria’s commercial hub.

He reiterated that Lagos continues to be a key player in driving trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, which are vital for both local and international prosperity.

“Lagos State, as the economic heartbeat of Nigeria, highly values collaborations that enhance trade, investment, and cultural ties,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He applauded the Belgian Embassy and the CBL-ACP Chamber of Commerce for their tireless efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.

The governor also praised Ambassador Leenknegt for his dedication to fostering long-term relationships through dialogue and mutual respect.

He expressed that the reception served as a symbol of the shared vision of prosperity and global cooperation between Belgium and Nigeria.

Sanwo-Olu reiterated Lagos State’s commitment to international collaboration.

He assured attendees that the state is eager to explore new avenues for joint initiatives that would foster economic growth and enhance people-to-people connectivity.
