Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has credited faith and unity as the key drivers of the state’s continuous growth and prosperity. 

He made this assertion during the 2025 Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Annual Inter-Denominational Divine Service (IDDS), held at The Apostolic Church, LAWNA Territorial Headquarters, Ketu.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the governor expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering prayers of the Christian community.

He emphasised the vital role faith plays in the development of Lagos. 

He acknowledged the church’s contributions to fostering moral values, unity, and social progress.

“Lagos State thrives not only through governance but also through the spiritual support and moral fortitude provided by faith communities,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

“Our government remains committed to religious harmony, ethical leadership, and continuous collaboration with faith-based organizations to drive our collective vision for growth and prosperity.”

Reflecting on the event’s theme, Total Restoration, the governor noted that it resonated with the aspirations of Lagosians for peace, security, and greater opportunities. 

He assured the audience that, by divine grace, the best days of Lagos and Nigeria lay ahead.

In his address, the Chairman of CAN Lagos State Chapter and convener of the service, His Lordship, The Right Reverend Steven Adegbite, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for its transformative initiatives and unwavering support for the Christian community. 

The bishop also made a passionate appeal for the construction of a pedestrian bridge to enhance safety for worshipers at The Apostolic Church’s convention grounds along the Ibadan Expressway in Ketu.

Touching on recent developments in the state legislature, Bishop Adegbite urged for a peaceful resolution, stating, “God is in control of the Lagos House of Assembly, and He will resolve the matter for us. We are not going to fight in Lagos.”

Guest preacher, Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria,  Oliver Aba, represented by Bishop Oluyinka Akande, stressed the need for increased funding for the education and health sectors to curb brain drain.
