Authorities in Cameroun have debunked reports of the death of the country’s President, Paul Biya, saying the leader is well and alive.
Giving the assurance on Wednesday, the Minister of Communications, Rene Emmanuel Sadi in a statement read on state radio, said the President is in good health and will be back in the country any moment from now.
Also, Cameroun’s ambassador to France, André Magnus Ekoumou, also issued a statement saying that President Paul Biya has never been hospitalized in Clamart or anywhere in France as speculated expressing his displeasure at the spread of rumours.
Ekoumou said the President is currently in Geneva, Switzerland.
Relatedly, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona said the government will go after ”those trying, by various means, to deceive public opinion by announcing the death of the president and head of state, Paul Biya.”
