The Nigeria Police Force has assured the public of its unwavering commitment to a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the tragic death of Priscilla Ocheme.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

The young woman was reported missing after visiting her boyfriend, Ekhousuehi Elvis, at his residence in Goshen Estate, Pyakasa, FCT, on September 22, 2024.

Days later, her lifeless body was discovered, prompting widespread concern and a demand for justice.

Following a report filed with the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, Elvis was identified as the primary suspect and invited for questioning.

However, instead of cooperating, Elvis reportedly traveled to Lagos State to file a counter-petition at a different police division.

This development led the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to direct the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to take over the case to ensure clarity and avoid jurisdictional overlap.

Currently, Elvis and other suspects linked to the case are in police custody and undergoing interrogation.

Addressing public speculation, the police emphasised that all detainees are being treated in accordance with the law, refuting rumors of mistreatment.
