The Ondo State chapters of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) and the Association of Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) have endorsed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election on Saturday.
In a powerful show of support, the groups hosted a public event in Akure, where hundreds of school teachers from across Ondo State joined a solidarity rally, expressing their unwavering support for the governor’s leadership.
Comrade Tajudeen Balogun, Chairman of the Adhoc Committee on Public Affairs and Social Mobilization, conveyed the teachers’ deep appreciation for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to their welfare.
He commended the governor’s prompt attention to teachers’ needs since he took office ten months ago, citing it as a significant factor in their endorsement.
“We are gathered here this sunny Monday morning to express our profound gratitude to our governor for his quick and rapid interventions in ameliorating the challenges faced by teachers in Ondo State. In ten months of his reign as governor, he has shown passion and support towards meeting the yearnings of teachers in Ondo State. I therefore stand here today with all members and executives of the various groups to rally support for your election on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
“We ascribe our solidarity and goodwill to the natural doctrine which states that ‘to whom much is given, much is expected’. We want to use this opportunity to call on all our members and their families to troop out en masse to cast their votes for Governor Aiyedatiwa on Saturday.”
Addressing a gathering of teachers, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed deep gratitude to the leadership and members of the teaching associations across Ondo’s 18 local government areas, acknowledging their steadfast support at this pivotal moment.
The governor affirmed his awareness of teachers’ needs, sharing that he was raised and educated by teachers and has educators within his own family.
Recognising the challenges they face, he assured them of his commitment to addressing their concerns openly and effectively.
