Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, joined protesters at Ikeja underbridge area in Lagos on October 1st, at around 8:50 am earlier today, marking Nigeria’s Independence Day with a call for action on pushing national problems. The #October1Protest, arranged by civil society groups and activists, focused on demanding accountability from the government and addressing challenges such as economic hardship, corruption, and insecurity.

Sowore, who is known for his outspoken stance on governance and reform, stood in solidarity with the demonstrators, urging Nigerians to rise up and hold leaders accountable. The protest saw participants march through various parts of Lagos, carrying placards and chanting for change as they commemorated the nation’s 64th Independence anniversary.

The protesters are being guilded by security personels like police officers, civil defence corps and safety corps and Nigeria security.
