The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Saturday rescued eight injured persons involved in an accident at Hammadiya, inward Abule-Egba of Lagos State.

The information revealed through the Lagos State Government Facebook page noted that a commercial driver with the registration number KTU 801 XM overturned on the motorway after losing control at high speed.

According to the report, the driver reportedly swerved sharply to avoid colliding with another bus and pedestrians, crashing into the median, leaving “several passengers injured, while others escaped through the windows.”There were no casualties recorded.

For immediate medical care, the eight victims, comprising five males and two females, were handed over to LASAMBUS medical personnel and transported to the General Hospital at Ile-Epo.

The Meran Police Division was present to ensure the free flow of traffic and maintain law and order during the evacuation of affected vehicle.

LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his concern for the injured and urged drivers to comply with speed limits and ensure regular vehicle maintenance.

He stressed the importance of safety measures to prevent avoidable accidents.

The report noted, “This unfortunate incident underscores LASTMA’s resolute commitment to preserving lives and ensuring safety on Lagos roads through proactive interventions and collaborative engagements with emergency response agencies.”
