To address the economic challenges in the country, the Lagos State Government (LASG) has announced that it is working diligently to empower Lagosians with beneficial programmes.
Revealing this development on X on Thursday, Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, stated that the programmes aim to educate and implement policies to further relieve the suffering of Lagosians.
He added that the initiative will be built on community engagement and sensitization programmes.
Tajudeen highlighted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to supporting and improving the lives of Lagosians.
Furthermore, Tajudeen emphasized that the new initiative will complement existing ones, like the Ilera-Eko Health Care Scheme, which provides access to quality healthcare.
Dr. Tajudeen stated, “While reiterating the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to improve the quality of life in Lagos, the laudable initiatives already in the pipeline will further complement existing ones, such as the ‘Sanwo-Olu Listens Financial Assistance Programme,’ the ‘Ilera-Eko Health Care Scheme’ that provides citizens with access to essential healthcare, and the ‘Ounje-Eko’ Discount Market, designed to support communities in Lagos State with affordable food items, among others.”
In achieving this initiative, the government revealed that it will collaborate with key stakeholders in the state.
The stakeholders include Community Development Committees (CDCs), Community Development Associations (CDAs), Community Development and Human Rights (CDHR) groups, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
Others include Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), such as the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) and the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA).
The special adviser to the governor recounted previous initiatives executed by Governor Sanwo-Olu.
He also thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Hamzat, for their support and efforts in improving the well-being of the residents of the state.
He noted that the government has urged residents to participate in ongoing government programmes and policies.
While appealing for residents’ support, he added, “To foster transparency and civic engagement, the Office is also planning a series of events that will benefit Lagosians during the upcoming Civic Week in November.”
