The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of the public display and inspection of the Draft Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan (2024–2044).
The initiative, led by the Office of Physical Planning, aims to make the plan’s proposals accessible to the public and gather feedback from residents in line with the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law (2019, as amended).
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluyinka Olumide, disclosed this yesterday.
He emphasised that the public inspection aligns with the state’s commitment to citizen participation and international best practices in urban planning.

“It is imperative to know that public inspection of the draft Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan is in tandem with the state’s culture of citizens’ participation and international best practices in the preparation of Physical Development Plans.
“This is the process that the state government adopts to produce good, desirable outcomes and bring about community ownership and seamless implementation of our Physical Development Plans,” Olumide stated.
The inspection period is scheduled to run from February 26 to Friday, April 4, 2025.
Residents can review the draft plan at five designated centres: Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat, Ibeju-Lekki, Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat, Lekki—Epe Local Government Secretariat, Epevand Lagos State Physical Planning Permits Authority, GRA, Ikeja.
Olumide encouraged residents to participate actively in the inspection process and provide feedback between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on working days within the stipulated period.

He stressed that public input is crucial, as the draft plan’s final presentation to stakeholders is scheduled for April 11, 2025, at the Lekki LCDA Hall, marking the formal inception of the Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan.
The Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan is expected to guide the sustainable development of one of Lagos State’s fastest-growing areas, ensuring structured urban growth, improved infrastructure, and enhanced economic opportunities.
