The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the total fare of ₦8,784,085.59 for intending pilgrims participating in the 2025 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the state.

Board Secretary Saheed Onipede made this announcement in a statement on Monday, following the fare announcement by Abdullahi Usman, the Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The Board urged intending pilgrims who have already paid the initial deposit of ₦8.5 million to pay the remaining balance of ₦284,085.59.

Those who have obtained the intention form but have yet to pay the initial deposit are encouraged to begin making payments immediately to secure their spots for the pilgrimage.

Intending pilgrims are reminded to pay the full Hajj fare by the deadline of January 31, 2025.

Onipede explained that NAHCON set the specific fare for each zone in the country with the approval of the Vice President of Nigeria.

He further clarified that after extensive consultations with stakeholders, the fare for intending pilgrims from the Southern states, including Lagos, is ₦8,784,085.59.

Those from Borno and Adamawa zones are expected to pay ₦8,327,125.59, while pilgrims from the Northern zone will pay ₦8,457,685.59.

Recognising the challenges posed by the current economic situation, the Board’s Secretary acknowledged that raising such a substantial amount for a holy pilgrimage is not an easy task.

He urged pilgrims not to lose hope, reassuring them that Allah, in His infinite mercy, would provide for them and reward them abundantly for answering His call.

Additionally, intending pilgrims will be airlifted by a reputable airline known for its excellent service, with provisions for breakfast and dinner that include local delicacies.

Regular spiritual counseling by Islamic clerics will also be provided, among other benefits.
