Governor Biodun Oyebanji has signed the Anti-Land Grabbing Protection Bill into law following a session of the State House of Assembly on Wednesday.

The newly signed Property Protection Law (Second Amendment Law, 2024) aims to halt illegal activities related to land acquisition within the state.

The document was presented to the governor by the Rt. Hon. Speaker , Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, along with the House Leader, Hon. Toku Ige, and the Clerk, Mrs. Agbede at Ekiti State, House of Assembly Chamber.

Governor Oyebanji thanked the House for its efforts, highlighting the importance of the legislative body to the growth of the state and his administration.

“I am also grateful to you for your understanding in ensuring we put people first by dividing the cake in such a way that everyone gets a piece,” the governor stated.

The statement further stressed the need to regulate and sanitize land acquisition processes within the state.

High Court Law (first amendment, 2014) and Ekiti state legislative House (Powers and Privileges) Law, 2024 were also signed into law.

Emphasizing the duties of the House, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House, Hon. Aribasoye, explained that the legislative body is committed to championing the improvement and development of the state.

Other key figures at the ceremony included the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye; the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bolaji Olagbaju; and the Secretary to the State Government, among others.
