Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed his condolences on the passing of the Chief Judge of the State, Justice John Adeyeye. 

Justice Adeyeye, who was appointed as Ekiti State Chief Judge on October 11, 2021, passed away on Monday at the age of 64.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji described Justice Adeyeye’s death as deeply saddening and a tremendous loss for the state. 

He noted that the Ekiti Judiciary, and Nigeria as a whole, have lost a significant pillar and an invaluable asset.

The governor praised the late Justice Adeyeye as a firm and principled jurist whose commitment to equity and justice was unwavering. 

He highlighted Justice Adeyeye’s dedication to fostering a strong and independent judiciary, which contributed to effective governance and the protection of citizens’ rights. 

Governor Oyebanji further acknowledged Justice Adeyeye’s advocacy for improved welfare for judicial officers and staff in the Ekiti State Judiciary, emphasizing his efforts toward ensuring efficient service delivery and the smooth functioning of the justice sector.

The governor prayed for divine comfort for Justice Adeyeye’s family, the people of Araromi Ugbesi in Ekiti East Local Government Area, and the legal community, urging them to find solace in the judge’s significant contributions to justice and the state’s development.

“This is indeed a great loss to our dear state. On behalf of the Government and people of Ekiti State, I commiserate with the family of the late Hon Justice Adeyeye and pray that the good Lord will console and comfort them, and grant the dear departed eternal rest.”, the governor added.
