Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has praised the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) for its significant contributions to academic excellence, technological innovation, and nation-building.  

The governor made the commendation during the combined 34th and 35th convocation ceremonies held at the institution on Saturday. 

In his goodwill message, he celebrated the resilience and hard work of the graduands, whose dedication had culminated in their academic achievements.  

Lauding FUTA’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike T. Oladiji, and the university’s management team, Aiyedatiwa highlighted the institution’s transformation into a global centre of excellence.

“The calibre of graduates this university consistently produces is a testament to your resilience and commitment to excellence,” the governor stated.  

He encouraged the graduands to embody integrity, hard work, and resilience as they step into the competitive global landscape. He further urged them to leverage their knowledge and skills to create positive impacts within their communities and beyond.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assured FUTA of the state government’s unwavering support in fostering academic development and innovation.

“We share a collective vision and mission towards nation-building in support of the RENEWED HOPE Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Our government will continue to provide an enabling atmosphere for flourishing academic development, innovation, enterprise, and knowledge,” he added.  

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to his development agenda, “OUR EASE,” which prioritizes security, urban and rural development, industrialization, healthcare, education, and sustainable agriculture.  

In her welcome address, Professor Oladiji reiterated FUTA’s dedication to advancing education, research, and technological innovation. 

She congratulated the graduands for their perseverance and described them as the pride of the institution.  

Highlighting the university’s milestones, the VC disclosed that 1,280 postgraduate degrees were awarded, comprising 344 postgraduate diplomas, 756 master’s degrees, and 180 doctoral degrees.

Additionally, 6,500 undergraduate degrees were conferred, with 519 students earning first-class honours 3,408 securing second-class upper, 2,139 obtaining second-class lower, and 339 graduating with third-class honours

Professor Oladiji expressed gratitude to the Ondo State Government for its consistent support, emphasising that FUTA remains steadfast in its mission to advance education through innovation in science, technology, and engineering.
