In a bold declaration, Elon Musk announced an early victory for Donald Trump in the closely contested U.S. presidential election, despite six of the seven critical swing states still being uncalled. Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, took to his platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday evening, stating, “Game, set, and match.” He added, “America is a nation of builders. Soon, you will be free to build,” suggesting that a Trump win could usher in a deregulation wave.

Musk has been a notable backer of Trump and the Republican Party in this election cycle, reportedly contributing over $130 million to their campaigns—a modest fraction of his estimated $265 billion net worth. As a key government contractor, Musk could stand to benefit significantly from a Trump presidency, with Trump even hinting at Musk’s involvement in a federal advisory role.

Trump has proposed forming a “government efficiency commission” at Musk’s suggestion, intended to oversee a sweeping financial and performance audit of the federal government. At a recent rally at Madison Square Garden, Musk suggested this commission could cut at least $2 trillion from federal spending, describing a Trump win as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” for deregulation and downsizing government.

Despite Musk’s confident proclamation, six of the seven critical swing states remained uncalled as of Tuesday evening. Early voting data, however, suggests a notable shift toward Trump nationwide, further intensifying Musk’s optimistic tone on the race’s outcome.

Musk’s outspoken endorsement and anticipated role in a Trump-led administration underscore the alignment of major business interests with Trump’s deregulatory agenda. The potential implications for federal policy, especially in technology and infrastructure, could be significant if Trump ultimately secures the presidency.

For now, all eyes remain on the yet-to-be-decided swing states as Musk’s declaration reverberates across both business and political circles.
