The Federal Government (FG) has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in honour of the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
This declaration was issued by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, conveyed the minister’s felicitations to the Muslim community for completing the Ramadan fast.
He underscored the importance of the holy month in promoting self-discipline, empathy, and spiritual growth.
Tunji-Ojo encouraged Muslims to uphold the values of kindness, generosity, and harmony while stressing the importance of national unity and interfaith cooperation.

Additionally, he called on all Nigerians to take advantage of the holiday to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and development.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us reflect on the lessons of Ramadan, embrace one another with love and forgiveness, and work together to build a more united and prosperous Nigeria,” the minister stated.
He urged citizens to mark the occasion with caution and consideration, emphasizing the importance of sharing with those in need, in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan and Eid.
Tunji-Ojo extended warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful, expressing hope that the season’s blessings bring joy and fulfillment to all.
