BREAKING: Court grants ₦500 Million bail to Yahaya Bello

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday granted bail to the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in the sum of ₦500 million with two sureties.

The ruling was delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, who emphasised that the granting of bail is at the court’s discretion.

He stated that the bail conditions were set in line with the applicable legal guidelines. Justice Nwite did not give further details on the specific charges or the circumstances of the case that led to the bail application.

As part of the bail conditions, Yahaya Bello was required to provide two sureties, whose identities and properties will be verified by the court before the release can be executed.

The bail sum of ₦500 million was also stipulated to ensure the commitment of the former governor to attending his court proceedings.

The case, which is still ongoing, has attracted significant public attention, given the high-profile nature of the defendant. Further proceedings are expected to take place in the coming weeks.
