Vice President Kashim Shettima, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun have arrived in Benin, the capital of Edo State, for the inauguration of the state’s Governor-Elect, Monday Okpebholo.
The Vice President, who landed in Benin at 10:44 AM, was received at the airport by Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shuaibu.
Also present at the airport to welcome Shettima were several governors from states controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulerazaq Abdulrahman.
Following the arrival, the Vice President proceeded directly to Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the venue for the swearing-in ceremony.
The New Daily Prime reported that Mr Okpebholo emerged as the elected Governor after winning the September 21 governorship election.
Meanwhile, Sanwo-Olu’s spokesperson confirmed the arrival of both Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun via his X page.
He wrote: “Flash: Arrival of Lagos State Governor Jide Sanwoolu, his Ogun State counterpart Dapo Abiodun CON in Benin City, Edo State for the inauguration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as Governor of Edo State.”
