Veteran musician and activist Charly Boy criticizes former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai over his recent political manoeuvres and decisions.
New Daily Prime reports that El-Rufai’s interactions with influential figures from the opposition party have fueled speculation about his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu.
Many Nigerians are now questioning whether he remains committed to the ruling party or is considering a shift in political alliances.
El-Rufai’s allegations against critics
In response to the growing speculation, El-Rufai recently claimed that some individuals were being paid to defend the current administration. He suggested that political operatives were using social media and public platforms to influence public opinion in favour of the government.
Charly Boy calls out hypocrisy
However, Charly Boy, in a video shared on his verified X account on Tuesday, accused El-Rufai of hypocrisy. He argued that the former governor had engaged in the same political tactics while in office.
“WAKE-UP CALL FOR NAIJA! El-Rufai, pack well biko. No be your yeye agenda you dey pursue?” Charly Boy said, mixing English with Nigerian Pidgin.
The outspoken activist urged Nigerians to be more aware and resist manipulation by politicians. He warned against blindly supporting leaders who use the people for personal or political gain.
A call for political awareness
“From politicians to keyboard warriors and cash-tivists, it’s time to wise up!” he declared. “No government is holy, no politician is innocent. We deserve better!”
Charly Boy emphasized the need for unity and real progress rather than deception and political games. “Let’s share one love, not manipulation and deceit,” he urged. “It’s time to stop letting others use us for their agenda.”

Mixed reactions from Nigerians
His remarks have sparked widespread debate on social media. Some Nigerians agree with his stance, arguing that politicians frequently exploit the public for their benefit. Others, however, defend El-Rufai, insisting that he has the right to express his views.
Growing frustration with politicians
This latest exchange highlights the increasing dissatisfaction among Nigerians with political leaders and their shifting loyalties. As the country faces economic and social challenges, many believe it is time for politicians to prioritize good governance over personal ambition.
Charly Boy, known for his activism and outspoken nature, continues to use his platform to challenge political figures. Whether his message will inspire meaningful change remains to be seen, but his call for greater political awareness is resonating with many.
