Nigerian rapper Falz, the son of renowned lawyer Femi Falana, has been linked to the scandal surrounding crossdresser Bobrisky after allegedly assisting him in dropping money laundering charges filed with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a viral recording uploaded by social media activist Verydarkman on September 24, 2024, Bobrisky claimed that some unnamed EFCC personnel took ₦15 million from him to drop money laundering accusations.

He admitted to paying the EFCC ₦15 million to settle his money laundering case and claimed he was confined to a private flat rather than prison for abusing the currency.

Bobrisky also alleged that Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana and his son, Falz, helped him withdraw the charges and avoid imprisonment. Verydarkman then claimed that Falz and his father were behind Bobrisky’s legal troubles.

After the audio gained significant attention online, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, stated that the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had ordered an investigation into the situation.

As a result, Falz quickly became a trending topic on Elon Musk’s X and other social media platforms, with many Nigerians reacting to the allegations.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Bobrisky in April 2024 for mutilating the naira by spraying and parading wads of fresh naira notes during the March 24, 2024, premiere of the film “Beasts of No Nation.” After pleading guilty, he was sentenced to four months in prison.
