Weeks after the release of the famous Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into bribery allegations against its officers involving Bobrisky.

According to a report from the Nation newspaper, Idris Okuneye alleged that some officers, whose names were not mentioned, took 15 million naira from him as a bribe to drop charges of money laundering and abuse of the naira.

EFCC Chairman Olanipekun Olukoyede has set up an investigative team to look into these allegations.

“To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators in uncovering the alleged bribery.

“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and the results of the findings will be made public. The Commission is committed to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism, and collaboration at all times,” stated Head of Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale.

However, Bobrisky responded with a post on his Instagram account, claiming that he served his sentence and did not bribe any officer. “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid the EFCC 15 million naira, and that I was never in prison… I didn’t pay any EFCC money, that’s a big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”
