The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a series of disciplinary sanctions following the disorder that overshadowed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The governing body also confirmed that Morocco’s appeal to be declared champions of the tournament has been rejected.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) was fined a total of $315,000 for multiple infringements during the final.

CAF cited misconduct involving stadium ball boys, the invasion of the referees’ restricted area by players and officials, and the use of laser pointers by supporters as the basis for the sanctions.
On the disciplinary front, Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi was handed a two-match CAF suspension, with one match suspended for a one-year probationary period. Midfielder Ismaël Saibari received a three-match suspension in CAF competitions and an additional fine of $100,000.

Senegal’s Football Federation (FSF) was hit with even heavier financial penalties, amounting to $615,000. CAF punished the federation for improper conduct by supporters, unsporting behavior by players and staff that brought the game into disrepute, as well as disciplinary breaches linked to the accumulation of five yellow cards in the final.
Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw was suspended for five CAF matches and fined $100,000, while players Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr were each suspended for two CAF matches.
