The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned a series of suspected politically motivated killings in the state, describing them as wicked and worrisome ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party’s Director of Media and Information, the APC alleged that desperate and disgruntled politicians are orchestrating brazen extra-judicial killings to intimidate the opposition and create an uneven playing field.

The statement highlighted the murder of Lateef Ajitoba, driver to Alhaji Rasheed Adeniji, the Osun APC Assistant Organising Secretary and a personal aide to former Governor Bisi Akande.
Ajitoba was killed shortly after attending Akande’s 87th birthday celebration in Ila-Orangun on Friday.
His body, bearing multiple axe wounds, was found in a gutter along the Oke-Ogbun, Osogbo Road in Ila-Orangun after he failed to return home.
The APC linked the timing to the high-profile APC gathering in the town to honour Akande, the maiden national chairman of the party.
Further violence occurred on Sunday in Osogbo, where Kazeem Oyebamiji, a former unit chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was gruesomely murdered.
His naked body, with a severely damaged head, was discovered in a gutter, sparking widespread concern on social media.
The party also recalled the killing of APC supporter Mr Adeboye Ademoroti in Ilesa on 27 November 2025.
Drawing parallels to 2022, when the APC claimed 30 of its members and supporters were killed 17 in Ijesaland alone allegedly by PDP hoodlums, the statement accused certain elements of repeating such tactics.

It claimed some suspects are close to the state’s power centre and evade arrest due to protection.
The APC urged the police and security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and their sponsors, warning that violence will not secure electoral victory.
It stressed that such acts threaten public peace and democracy in Osun State.
