President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026).
The president left Abuja on Saturday ahead of the annual event, which runs from January 12 to January 18. The summit, established by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, serves as a global platform for dialogue on sustainability and development.
Tinubu touched down in Abu Dhabi at about 4 am local time, where he was received by Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, minister of state in the UAE ministry of foreign affairs.
The 2026 edition of the summit is themed “The nexus of next: Supercharging sustainable progress” and is expected to bring together world leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to advance conversations on sustainable development and innovative pathways for socioeconomic growth.
According to Bayo Onanuga, presidential spokesperson, Tinubu will use the platform to highlight key reforms undertaken by his administration, particularly in areas such as energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development.
Onanuga added that the president is also expected to hold meetings with UAE leaders to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss other matters of shared interest.
Tinubu is accompanied by the minister of foreign affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, alongside other senior government officials.
The president is expected to return to Nigeria on January 16.
