The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been described as Nigeria’s most stable and organised political party, according to its National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
Speaking during a radio programme in Jos yesterday, Yilwatda credited the party’s growing influence and recent electoral successes to data-driven decision making, internal cohesion, and deliberate confidence-building among party members and stakeholders.
“When I took over the leadership of APC, I promised to improve party governance. Today, we have stabilised the party. All lingering court cases at both state and national levels have been withdrawn,” Yilwatda said. He added that the party had successfully conducted congresses, caucus meetings, and two National Executive Committee (NEC) sessions without dissent, reflecting “effective governance within the party.”
Describing political management as a chess game, Yilwatda emphasised the need for foresight, careful planning, and taking advantage of opponents’ weaknesses. “Politics is a game of numbers. Where are the numbers? Where do they reside? How do we bring them to our side? If I can push you into making a mistake and take advantage of it, I will do it. That is the nature of the game,” he explained.

The APC chairman said the party had adopted a data-driven approach to strengthen its electoral prospects, particularly in preparation for upcoming elections in Osun, Ekiti, and the Federal Capital Territory. He cited recent party primaries where multiple aspirants agreed on consensus candidates without resorting to litigation as proof of improved internal democracy. “When people see themselves as part of the system, they agree and work together to form the government. This is a model we want other political parties to copy,” Yilwatda said.
E-Registration Exercise Launched in Plateau
In a major demonstration of party unity, Yilwatda and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Monday launched the APC electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise in Dengi, Kanam Local Government Area, and Langtang, Langtang North. The event attracted massive crowds of supporters, signaling a potential shift in Plateau’s political dynamics.
Yilwatda said the nationwide e-registration initiative was aimed at promoting inclusiveness, internal democracy, and cohesion within APC. He assured party members that the process would be transparent, providing equal opportunities for all. The APC chairman also welcomed Governor Mutfwang into the party, describing their renewed partnership as a strategic step toward peace, stability, and development in the state.
“We were never enemies; we only had political differences. Today marks a new political consensus anchored on development and inclusion,” Yilwatda stated.
Governor Mutfwang urged citizens to embrace unity and collective progress. He highlighted ongoing support for farmers affected by last season’s losses and announced plans for expanded infrastructure, including schools, healthcare centres, and empowerment programmes designed to boost economic self-reliance. He also called on youths to avoid drug abuse and channel their energies into productive ventures, noting that improved security across the state was a result of cooperation and trust among political stakeholders.
