Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has launched the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration exercise in Ondo State, describing the digital shift as a prerequisite for the party’s future growth and credibility.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held on Monday, at the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) Hall in Akure, the governor emphasised that the initiative is designed to create a secure and permanent database that will guide the party’s planning and internal processes.
Aiyedatiwa noted that the e-registration aligns with the long-standing vision of President Bola Tinubu to modernize party administration.

He stressed that in a modern economy driven by ICT, political parties must also adopt technology to ensure transparency.
“This exercise is very important for our party—not just our party, but the leader of our party, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor stated.
“It will bring equalisation, as all members will be registered within the same framework and timeframe.”
The governor highlighted that the registration window is strictly defined, with the portal set to close on January 31, 2026.
He urged ward and local government officials to ensure all interested persons—both new members and those previously registered manually—are captured before the deadline.
The National Vice Chairman of the APC (South-West), Isaac Kekemeke, who also addressed the participants, explained that the exercise is critical to strengthening the party’s structure ahead of future congresses and primary elections.
According to Kekemeke, the registration exercise serves four primary objectives. It is designed to ensure a verifiable and credible nationwide membership database.
It also aims to integrate new members on equal footing with existing ones, guaranteeing the same rights and privileges.
In addition, the registration will help build a reliable database to enhance the credibility of party primaries and congresses.
Also, it will make it possible to identify regular and financially compliant members of the party.
The event recorded a strong turnout of state leadership, including the Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami; the Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Fasoranti; the Chief of Staff, Segun Omojuwa; and the Special Adviser on Legislative Matters and Party Affairs, Babatunde Kolawole.

Kolawole commended Aiyedatiwa for his swift mobilization of resources to ensure the “Train-the-Trainer” workshop could take place, noting that the digital system would effectively eliminate “phantom entries” and enhance accountability across all 18 local government areas.
