The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Osun State governorship election scheduled for 8 August 2026, Bola Oyebamiji has boldly proclaimed himself the frontrunner, asserting that he faces no real competition.
Speaking at the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society’s annual prayer event in Ikire on Saturday, the former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and ex-Osun Commissioner for Finance expressed unwavering confidence in his victory.

“I have said it on several occasions that I, Bola Oyebamiji, don’t have a competitor,” he declared to party members and supporters.
“By the special grace of God, come August 8, 2026, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji will become governor of Osun State.”
Oyebamiji, who emerged as APC flagbearer through a consensus primary earlier this month, emphasised party unity, noting that a recent stakeholders’ meeting convened by APC stalwart Chief Bisi Akande had resolved to rally behind his candidature.
He pledged to focus on issues rather than personal attacks, stating: “I don’t like attacking people. I want to focus on the assignment before me, which is winning the governorship election.”
Highlighting zonal equity, Oyebamiji insisted the next governor should come from Osun West Senatorial District, a description he said he perfectly fits.

He also teased strong support from his local government area, promising supporters would be “surprised” by the electoral outcome there.
In his sermon, Chief Missioner Badmus Adekunle described his nomination as “divine testimony” and a sign of widespread goodwill, crediting it to advocates of progressive governance based on justice, equity, and development.
