President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday inaugurated a high-powered Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, aimed at resolving internal disputes and bolstering cohesion as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The committee, comprising APC governors, federal ministers and key stakeholders, is chaired by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, with former APC National Legal Adviser Muiz Banire serving as member-secretary.
Other members include Senator Adamu Aliero; Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum; Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum; governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta); as well as Uba Sani (Kaduna), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello, and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs Ibrahim Masari.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Buni expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged the committee’s commitment to inclusive strategies that foster a sense of belonging among aggrieved members. He emphasised proactive conflict resolution and urged members to prioritise party interests over personal ambitions.

The move follows President Tinubu’s remarks at the APC’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting on 19 December in Abuja, where he stressed the need for tolerance and accommodation to sustain the party’s progressive ideals.
In a statement by Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, the initiative underscores the APC’s determination to maintain resilience and unity in Nigerian democracy.
