Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially announced his move into Politics, revealing plans to align with the Accord Party (AP).
The singer made the disclosure in a post on his X account on Tuesday, stating that he would be in Osun State on Wednesday to formally obtain his party membership card.
“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @Imole House Osogbo tomorrow… see you soon accordingly. Cc @AAdeleke_01,” he wrote.
Davido’s decision comes barely two weeks after his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party.
Governor Adeleke has since emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2026 governorship election in the state.
Davido shot into the spotlight in 2012 following the release of ‘Dami Duro,’ a single from his debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’.
Over the years, he has cemented his status as one of Africa’s most successful Artistes and a leading figure among the Afrobeats ‘Big Three’.
His body of work includes albums such as ‘A Good Time’ (2019), ‘A Better Time’ (2020) and ‘Timeless’ (2023). Earlier this year, he dropped ‘5ive,’ his fourth studio album.
Beyond his music career, Davido is the founder of Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), a record label he established in April 2016, which has nurtured and promoted several music talents.
