Cristiano Ronaldo, popularly known as CR7, reacted to Rui Patrício following the goalkeeper’s decision to retire from professional football.
The Al Nassr star congratulated his longtime Portugal teammate on a remarkable career and expressed gratitude for his contributions to the national team.
Patrício confirmed the end of his 19-year career in a post shared on the official Instagram page of the Portuguese national team.
Responding to the announcement, the 40-year-old Portugal captain wrote a simple but heartfelt message to the 37-year-old shot-stopper:
“Thank you for everything, Rui! Congratulations on your career!”
Rui Patrício made 108 appearances for Portugal after debuting in 2010, becoming one of the nation’s most dependable goalkeepers.
At club level, he represented Sporting CP, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Roma, Atalanta, and most recently Al-Ain in the UAE.
