The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of deliberately misinforming the public about the legal status of local government administration following recent court rulings.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday by the state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, the APC reminded the governor and his party that a critical suit determining the tenure of reinstated APC local government chairmen and councillors remains pending before the Federal High Court.

The party referred specifically to Suit No. FHC/OS/CS/147/2025, which seeks judicial clarification on whether the reinstated officials originally sworn in during the previous APC administration are entitled to complete a full three-year term from their first sitting in February 2025.
The APC disclosed that the case was last mentioned in November 2025 and has been adjourned until February 2026.
Among the key issues before the court is whether the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) possesses the legal authority to conduct fresh local government elections while the reinstated officials’ tenure subsists.
The opposition party alleged that the Adeleke administration has resorted to “all manners of lies” since suffering a major legal setback when the Supreme Court upheld the reinstatement of the sacked APC council bosses.
It described the exercise conducted by OSSIEC on 22 February 2025 which the PDP government branded as local government elections as an “illegal declaration” that lacks constitutional backing while the tenure suit remains unresolved.
The APC particularly took exception to recent comments by the state Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, labelling them a deliberate attempt to incite unrest and distort established legal realities.

While warning that such actions risk undermining peace across the state, the party urged security agencies to remain vigilant amid reports of alleged threats by PDP members to use force against reinstated officials. It cited a recent incident in Otan-Aiyegbaju, Boluwaduro Local Government Area, as evidence of rising tensions.
The APC appealed to its members and supporters to remain law-abiding and peaceful, while calling on parents and guardians to restrain youths from being used as agents of political violence.
